Attorney General meets Law Society President

On Wednesday 3rd July 2024, the Attorney General hosted Law Society of Northern Ireland President Darren Toombs and Chief Executive David Lavery CB. The Attorney and President discussed shared areas of interest.

 

The Attorney endorsed the Society’s initiative in introducing a Pledge to Uphold the Rule of Law and she encouraged leaders in the justice sector to support the initiative.  She confirmed her own commitment to uphold and defend the rule of law, as pledged publicly when she took up office in 2020.  

 

Dame Brenda thanked the Law Society for their continuing commitment to maintaining and improving access to justice and reaffirmed the importance of independence, fairness and transparency as cornerstones of the rule of law.
